Your DORMANT Advantage is your most exhausting form of communication. It’s how you are least likely to surpass others. Tread carefully in these areas, because this form of communication is your “quicksand.” And it will cost you a disproportionate amount of time and energy.

What does it mean to have a Dormant Mystique Advantage?

Excellent question. I’ll show you.

If you have a Dormant Mystique Advantage you want to jump right into the heart of the action.

Since you have a Dormant Mystique Advantage, your personality doesn’t tend to be quiet and reflective. If you have to use Mystique in your communication, it feels like quicksand. Here’s why…

You persuade others by being straightforward and open, whereas MYSTIQUE personalities persuade by provoking questions without giving answers. Your approachability is what attracts others to you.

  • You generally don’t hide your opinions.
  • Some may even refer to you as an open book.
  • In business negotiations that require holding back information, you may tend to feel challenged, because containing how you feel typically is not a natural response for you.

People typically know where they stand with you. You might have a difficult time hiding how you feel.

    Hi Sally!

I’m Passion-Innovation and came to this article via your email. I just wanted to say that I got very confused about this because it sounds as if you’re stating traits of my archetype (The Catalyst: heart on sleeve, open, informal, etc) as if those are qualities of Mystique, which I understand to be kind of everything I shouldn’t be/do.

I assume I’m misunderstanding something, because I can’t see how Mystique relates to me being more of who I am in that it reads as if the qualities of Mystique sound like The Catalyst.

It’s the deepest darkest place ever, in stead of feeling in charge of me, I feel defensive and apologetic and have the feeling of swimming in deep waters with no land around for safety. Incredibley unsettling, but I’m always stronger on the other side. I find resilience and tenacity, but it soooooo hard.

As a People’s Champion when I shut down, go inward, I feel that I have to disengage from the outside world. When I’m here, I latch onto negative emotions to keep me there; anger, jealousy, doubt, pity.
I know immediately its quicksand from the reactions of people around me. I have to be careful that I don’t stay here long and that can happen if I chose to do so. But then I found out that when I’m back to being the People’s Champion, the place where I need to be that I wasted so much valuable time and didn’t gain a thing.
My awareness to stay out of quicksand altogether or once in it get out quickly is extremely important.
