Hello, to the Speaker Hall of Fame!

This week I’m celebrating my anniversary. Not my wedding or my work anniversary, but the anniversary of an event that makes my work especially meaningful.

Seven years ago, I was recognized by my peers at the National Speakers Association and inducted into the Council of Peers Award for Excellence Speaker Hall of Fame®. In the 42 years the award has been given, only 242 speakers have received it.

It’s one of my proudest professional achievements.

When this time rolls around every year, I usually just high-five myself.

This year, to celebrate, I’m sharing with you exclusive video of my acceptance speech, where I recount a story of how I learned leadership means not watering down your message. (I also mention liquor, pornography and pork.)

View the speech here.
