Hello from the airport!
As I type this, I’m headed home after a few weeks of crisscrossing the country.
On my adventures, I learned a few new ninja moves for business travel.
Check out the quick video above I just did for you.
*Quick clarification on the video: I was so revved up to talk with you that I missed a small detail. TSA security considers peanut butter a LIQUID, not a solid. Here's a quick photo from the airport, below. Imagine pouring out your peanut butter, here:
Sneak peek of the video:

» Why a goldfish got my attention in 9 seconds

When you’re confident and collected, you’ll make a positive first impression. That’s how to be your most fascinating.
A few MORE nifty tips for your next trip:
1. Decisions create stress, and stress ruins confidence.
Avoid big decisions on a trip, because stress withers your confidence. This includes mentally-intensive decisions (whether or not to hire someone) or small ones (how to get from hotel to meeting location).
Keep yourself in the zone, you’re more likely to captivate listeners.
2. Conserve your battery.
My buddy Chris Brogan taught me a smart principle for cellphones and laptops: A.B.C. (Always Be Charging). The same principle applies to YOU, and your personality. Your energy level is like a battery. Spend it wisely for tip-top performance.
It’s your responsibility to conserve your energy for its best and highest use.
3. Figure out what your body needs, and then prioritize that.
For me, sleep is precious. I try to go to bed in the Eastern time zone across the country (that’s 7 pm on the West Coast!). I do not do redeyes. My productivity rises in direct proportion to amount of sleep. Sleep might not be your “must-have,” but exercise or meditation might be.
Keep in touch with your body, so that your body can support YOU in staying focused.
With that, my friends… I’m off. Getting ready to apply my new travel tricks.
Au revoir!

Hi Sally,
I've been disconnected this past month and jumped on to get my Sally fix! While watching your video, it was interesting to see you funny and giggly, until you walked in the room and your serious face came on. Even your whole voice inflection changed! You talked about family and your "missing them" meter was off the chart! We (most all of us) feel that way about you as well. You're like family to us. We reach out to you because no one else has ever told us we are "fascinating". Now that I saw the video, I feel like I'm back in the loop with my family again. Thanks for being the fascinating Sally that you are!
Great informal video! I loved the tips about keeping our kids connected with us during our work travel. Hope it was a great experience.
I'll be in Orlando for the Holidays, again, can't wait! 🙂
Cheers
Awesome video, and you made some really good points about amenities. For me free wi-fi that works is one of the most important things.
Also, I love how the map you provided shows the US as an island, so that when you fly to Montreal, you *fall into the ocean*!! 😀
Your comment about staying in hotels made me think of a conversation I had with a coworker about AirBnB and whether it would make for a different experience if business travelers stayed in homes and real houses rather than hotels - whether it would change their feelings about the visit or trip and everything about it. Also, because chain hotels are all the same, what if every time your traveled, you stayed in a different place - something unique?
The downside would be the time needed to investigate and choose a place (and whether corporate would reimburse for it), as opposed to having an assistant or travel office auto-book some generic room.
Thanks for the video....it's nice to see your personal side as well as business side.
It was great to see you on your video. Love your passion/innovative communication style. You are really energizing. Enjoy pampering your family. Love Jeanine
Of course I remember you - you're unforgettable (in a good way of course). Great job getting through that without crying. Do you get to keep the goldfish? It's only fair now that you've named him. Or is he a solid like peanut butter?
Nice to have you back Sally - enjoy your well earned time out!
I travel with a few one-two ounce packets of peanut butter (widely available now), which has never been a problem for TSA.
