Hilda Gan is the President and Chief People Officer of People Bright Consulting Inc., an award-winning HR management consulting firm based in the Greater Toronto Area., She’s an international best-selling author, motivational speaker, and the creator of REVUP Your Potential. With a diverse career in nursing, IT, Engineering, and HR, Hilda combines 25+ years of HR with a serial entrepreneur’s pragmatic eye for business strategy.
Hilda has been an FCA since 2019. She holds a Masters in Health Sciences and has earned the Certified Human Resources Leader designation.
We wanted to learn more about what brought Hilda to Fascinate and how she uses it in her REVUP Your Potential program.
What value have you received from taking the Fascinate Test?
The Fascinate Test helps me with my REVUP Your People Management skills training. It provides a scientific and researched-based tool to help individual Leaders and their Teams discover their Uniqueness and gain confidence in becoming great leaders. The test provides the foundation to train in an exciting, fun, and applicable way in the real world.
What surprised you most about your Fascinate Archetype?
I’m Prestige and Power, and my Archetype is Victor. When I first learned this, it sounded like the Victor is out to win at all costs. So I did not share my Archetype at first. But when I brought this to the FCA community, I realized that the Victor helps create winning solutions for others. I saw that this is who I am, and who I’ve always been. The Prestige in me is always looking to improve. And I love to create winning solutions where we all win. I am the Victor. What a surprise!
Why did you become an FCA?
I created the REVUP concept to articulate how to create a positive, healthy work culture. REVUP stands for Respect, Equality, Valued, Uniqueness and Potential. It is the core of my leadership and team-building training.
I was searching for a way to quantify Uniqueness, the “U” in REVUP. Of all the assessment tools that I had taken, the Fascinate Test resonated with me. The report is written in a positive way that is simple for people to understand. Science and research in developing Fascinate gives a proven tool that truly reflects an individual’s uniqueness. I knew that this was the tool I needed to use in my training programs and that being an FCA would give me more knowledge, training and the credentials to help fascinate my clients.
Sally Hogshead always says “Different is better than better.” What does this mean for you, and your coaching?
We are all Unique in our own way. I believe that we can harness that Uniqueness as our superpower to give us the confidence to create healthy, trusting relationships. We should stand in our own power and choose to be Unique.
How can the Fascinate System help people navigate today’s business and social climate?
The Fascinate System teaches and helps us understand inclusivity and tolerance. It’s an amazing program to help build strong teams and open up communications and relationships, which is so needed today as we work remotely more and more.
Who are your clients? How do you use the Fascinate tools to help your clients?
I work with engineering, tech, financial, legal, and other professional service sectors, healthcare, and not-for-profit clients. My clients for Leadership and Team training tend to be medium and corporate clients who value people as their greatest assets.
With the REVUP Leadership and Team training, the groups take the Fascinate tools to find their Uniqueness. We use that to help them improve communication effectiveness, trust-building and motivational and team-building skills.
What different approaches have you developed for coaching individuals or teams? At which level do you make the greatest impact, and why?
My REVUP Your Potential approach is an excellent complement to Fascinate – it reinforces Uniqueness – that “different is better than better,” and helps with communication effectiveness – listening, learning, and being more tolerant of the nuances of others.
I focus on the communications and team-building aspects of Fascinate combined with my REVUP approach to 1:1 coaching and group and team training. I guide and help leaders motivate and uplift their teams. My greatest impact is in coaching leaders to more effectively build healthy teams and improve employee engagement, retention, productivity, and profitability.
Is there anything else you would like us to know about your business, mission, or your relationship with the Fascinate System?
Taking the refresher of the FCA course several years after the initial training validated and reinforced my belief in how effective the fascinate system is in helping others gain confidence in themselves. I LOVE IT!
